What Is a QR Code?
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can store significantly more information than a traditional linear barcode. Originally invented in 1994, QR codes are now universally used to quickly share website URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact information, and payment details. By simply pointing a smartphone camera at the code, users can instantly access the encoded data without typing.
How to Create a Custom QR Code
- Select the Content Type: Choose what you want the QR code to do (open a Website, connect to Wi-Fi, send an Email, etc.).
- Enter Your Information: Fill in the required fields. The live preview will automatically generate your unique QR code instantly.
- Customize the Design (Optional): Open the customization menu to change colors, adjust dot styles, or upload your own center logo to match your branding.
- Download: Choose your desired resolution and click "Download PNG" for general use, or "Download SVG" if you plan to print the QR code on large banners or business cards.
Static vs Dynamic QR Codes
This ExpressCore tool generates Static QR Codes. A static QR code stores the actual destination or text directly inside the black and white squares. Because the data is embedded in the image itself, the destination cannot be changed once the code is printed. However, the major advantage is that static QR codes never expire and do not rely on any third-party redirection servers.
What Is QR Error Correction?
Error correction allows a QR code to remain readable even if part of it is damaged, covered, or missing. There are four levels:
- L (Low - 7%): Creates the simplest looking QR code. Best for long URLs.
- M (Medium - 15%): The standard balance between complexity and reliability.
- Q (Quartile - 25%): High reliability. Good for harsh environments.
- H (High - 30%): Maximum reliability. This setting is strongly recommended if you place a custom logo in the center of your QR code, as it ensures the scanner can recover the data hidden behind the logo.
Can I Put a Logo Inside a QR Code?
Yes. Because of QR error correction, scanners can mathematically recover data even if a portion of the code is obscured. By setting the error correction to 'High' (H), you can safely place a logo or icon in the center of the QR code without destroying its functionality. Always test your generated QR code with a mobile phone before printing thousands of copies.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this QR Code Generator free?
Yes, it is 100% free. You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or pay for downloads.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. ExpressCore generates static QR codes. Because the information is encoded directly into the pattern, the QR code itself will work forever. (Note: If you link to a website URL, the QR code will only work as long as your website remains online).
Are my Wi-Fi passwords uploaded to a server?
Absolutely not. Our privacy-first generator processes the text and creates the QR code entirely within your local web browser. Your sensitive information, such as passwords and contact details, never leaves your device.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
If you want to put the QR code on a website, social media, or in a simple document, PNG is perfect. If you are sending the design to a professional printer for business cards, posters, or large banners, choose SVG because it is a vector format that will never become blurry no matter how large you scale it.
Can I change the colors of my QR code?
Yes. Open the "Customize QR Code" section to select any foreground or background color. Just be sure to maintain high contrast (e.g., a dark foreground on a light background) so smartphone cameras can easily read the code.
